New logo and identity system for Mastercard by Pentagram

The Saul-Bass-Paul-Rand-et al-admirer in me is sad to see the interlocking lines go as they are 1960s corporate identity 101 but life, and logos, go on.

Say what you will about the prototypes that Pentagram designed, (they are prototypes, afterall) but I find the system stunning in its simplicity. And the accompanying video is such a succinct, effective way to show people — designers, stakeholders, decision-makers — how to use the new Mastercard brand. A great deliverable for an agency to give their client.
